Mountain of Blues Rocks Ruidoso June 1st

Mountain of Blues

There’s blues and then there’s a Mountain of Blues—and that’s just what’s headed to Ruidoso, New Mexico, this weekend. Keeping the tradition of Live Blues alive and kicking in Ruidoso since the summer of 1998, the Ruidoso Mountain of Blues Festival has grown into one of the Southwest’s most respected and anticipated annual Live Blues Events.

Make plans to listen to the likes of Dirty Mojo Junkies, CW Ayon, Austin Jim Murphy and headliner James Armstrong, among others, right in Midtown Ruidoso at the 10-acre Village Green Space . This year they’re celebrating their 16th Anniversary!

While in town before and after the main event, make sure to visit their two permanent live music locations. Both The Quarters and Win, Place or Show are located right in Midtown Ruidoso, a short walk from the event grounds … both feature live Rock, Blues and Country.

For more details about the event and the BeerFest happening right along with the music, click here!

Campgrounds re-opening at Quemado Lake

Quemado Lake

Camping is fun, but wouldn’t it be cooler just to drive back to your country cabin in Spring Canyon Ranch? Yeah, we thought so! Here’s the info, though, in case you insist 🙂

The Quemado Ranger District of the Gila National Forest is reopening two campgrounds on May 1, 2013, that were temporarily closed during the winter.

•           Piñon Campground located in the Quemado Lake Recreation Area off N.M. State Highway 32 and Forest Road 13.  Two group sites located within the Piñon Campground will be open and available for reservations.

•           Juniper Campground also located in the Quemado Lake Recreation Area off N.M. State Highway 32 and Forest Road 13.

Recreation users are reminded to dispose of trash properly in appropriate bins and leave the campsite clean for the next forest visitor.

Also, fire dangeris high, so please practice campfire safety:

•           Clear all flammable material away from the fire for a minimum of five feet in all directions.

•           Make a fire only if you have a shovel and sufficient water to put it out.

•           Have a responsible person in attendance at all times.

•           Never leave your campfire unattended.

•           Avoid making a campfire during the windy part of the day.

•           To make sure your campfire is out, drown with water and stir with dirt, making

sure all burned materials are extinguished. Feel with your hand to make sure it’s out cold.

•           Every campfire will be put DEAD OUT before leaving it.

There will be potable water available at the Cove Lake Access, Juniper Campground, and Piñon Campground.  The dump station at Piñon Campground will be available at this time.

For additional information regarding campgrounds or other recreational opportunities on the Gila National Forest, contact the respective Ranger Station or visit the website at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/gila/

As storm season approaches, New Mexico’s Viper Tours (www.vipertours.com) gears up to give thrill seekers a taste of tornado alley and the raw power of nature.

With a team of experts at the ready, Viper Tours is the definitive name in private storm chasing, putting clients at the center of dramatic and intense weather systems.

Viper Tours founders Dustin Feldman and Jeff Shardell formed the company to share their passion for extreme experiences. Each adventure results in a transformative journey for all.  Tour guests are in great hands with Feldman’s background as a medic and field coordinator for Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers and Shardell’s impressive skills as a dynamic navigator and forecaster.

This is no tour bus venturing into the eye of the storm, but a futuristic vehicle for unparalleled access to the action. The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor truck takes on the roughest terrain at high speeds, making it the perfect complement to the stellar team at Viper Tours.

Storms are unpredictable, but Viper operates “on call only,” organizing tours around specific weather occurrences, meaning no one goes home disappointed by a non-event.

The five-night all-inclusive custom adventure includes expert guides, high-quality lodging and food and a memorable photo book and video documenting the experience. In-between active storms activities include rafting, hiking, biking and historical exploration.

For a limited time only, Go Moment (www.gomoment.com), the acclaimed service that specializes in creating and offering extraordinary experiences, is offering Viper Tours packages at an exclusive, first-time ever insider price—up to 30% savings. For booking information visit www.GoMoment.com

For those not up for the thrill of a chase, Viper Tours offers a virtual option via a real-time live feed available exclusively through their Web site at www.vipertours.com. Follow along as the team and their guests venture into rarely scene tornado territory.

About Viper Tours
Dustin Feldman and Jeff Shardell are the entrepreneur trailblazers behind the company.  Their mission is simple; complete a life-altering quest by putting clients up close and personal with the formidable forces of nature. The Viper Tours’ team boasts more than 9 years experience in adventure touring to offer clients an unmatched encounter. That expertise combined with the most innovative technology available position Viper as the only storm chasing company offering an elite experience.
