Saturday, April 20th – 1pm  Reserve, NM  Republican Party of Catron County announces their Biennial Organizational County Convention to be held 1pm at the Catron County Courthouse 100 Main Street, Reserve, New Mexico. The purpose of this convention is to elect new country central committee members, new county officers, and delegates to the Republican State Central Committee. Saturday, April 27th, 9am – 5pm – CRAFT DAY AT THE QUEMADO SENIOR CENTER. Pot luck lunch and/or snacks at noon.  There will also be door prizes given away.  This is open to the public, and you can spend as little or as much time there as you please.  There will be people available to teach specific crafts… or you are invited to bring your own and share with others.

Mon-Tues April 29-30 – GARDENING “SPRUCE UP FOR SPRING DAYS” at the Quemado Senior Center.  9am – NOON both days
This will involve the ground prep and planting of flowers, shrubs, or other plants to beautify the grounds outside the center.  We are asking for help of any kind… whether it be plants or supplies, tools, muscle, or your skill or time.  We will be working from 9:00 am until 12:00 both days… and then stop for the regular Center lunch at noon. If you can help and are available in any way during one or both mornings, please call the Center to let Paul know.

Saturday, April 27  1:30pm Catron County Historical Society Annual Meeting at the Datil Community Center The meeting will announce the officers and board of directors from the election. ALSO there will be a Silent Auction to raise funds for preserving Catron County History. Some of the items in the past have been books by local authors, jewelry made by local artists, items donated by local businesses, a forged fork, etc.  Speaking  will be Stephen Zimmer on Will James.  Be sure to come out as this meeting is Open to the Public and we would like for you to join. Saturday June 1st 9am – 1pm COMMUNITY MARKET EXPO Datil School Gym

The community is invited to participate in Datil Community Presbyterian Church’s first ever all-encompassing indoor Expo.  Since the Catron Food Pantries is NOT having an auction this year, we conceived of this event to fill that void and also raise much needed funds.  If you have a business to promote, or just need to sell some excess stuff around your house, or if you have an organization that you would like to endorse, then this is the event for you.  We are selling spaces in the gym for $10 each.  We can also accommodate some outside spaces for the same price.  You won’t want to miss out.  There are a limited number of spaces, so reserve your space now by emailing or calling one of the following:

“Indy” is very fast – was bred to be a race horse but did not do well racing and was then used as a ‘Pony Horse’ at the track.  After that he became a trail-riding horse.  He’s had good training and is a very solid healthy horse but has not been ridden since Nov. of last year.  He stands about 15-2; has great manners and a great foundation of training.  He does best when he has a job to do so an experienced rider would be best. CAT SPAYING & NEUTERING –
Dr. Duncan would like to make the community aware of a program called Cat Spay of Santa Fe.  This foundation is providing vouchers for the spay and neuter of cats (Cats only).  There are a few restrictions on who will qualify–but most people will qualify.  If interested in having a cat fixed just call 505-466-1676.  They have a website with all the details: www.zimmer-foundation.org.  Big Country Veterinary Service is accepting the vouchers which covers the entire cost of the surgery.
