Free Classical Concerts in Carrizozo!

Carrizozo Music in the Parks is sponsoring another in their popular series of free classical concerts.  On Friday, April 13, Anne Eisfeller, concert harpist, will perform at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 7 P.M.  The church is located at 10th at D Avenue. The concert will be followed by a finger food reception with an opportunity to meet the harpist and see this gorgeous harp up close!

Anne Eisfeller is the Principal Harpist of the New Mexico Philharmonic, Santa Fe Symphony, and Opera Southwest.  She has also performed with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Santa Fe Opera, Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, and El Paso Symphony.  During the summer she is a guest faculty member of the Assisi Festival in Italy and the harpist for the Oregon Coast Festival, Britt Festival, and Sunriver Music Festival in Oregon.  Ms. Eisfeller received Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Indiana University, both with High Distinction.  While at IU she studied with Peter Eagle and was a teaching assistant in harp and music theory.  Further studies were with Susann McDonald of the University of Southern California and Myor Rosen of the New York Philharmonic.  She is a harp specialist for the Albuquerque Youth Symphony and has a private studio in Albuquerque.

Those wonderful cooks at the Carrizozo Woman’s Club will host a dinner at the Woman’s Club clubhouse prior to the concert to benefit their scholarship fund.   A sit-down dinner of Swedish chicken, wild rice, vegetable, rolls, coffee and assorted desserts is offered for $8.50.  Dinner will be served from 5-6:30, or until they run out of food.  Take-out is available, too.  The Carrizozo Woman’s Club is an adobe WPA building, built in 1939 and listed on both the New Mexico and national historic registers.

Directions to Trinity United Methodist Church and the Carrizozo Woman’s Club are as follows:  from 54, turn West at the caboose, turn South at the stop sign (E Ave), then turn right onto 10th Street.  Go one short block to the church and the Woman’s Club is a short block South on D.

The concert will be repeated in a casual and shorter version on Saturday, April 14 at 9:15 at New Horizon Development Center. Seating at New Horizon  is limited, but the public is welcome.

Carrizozo Music in the Parks  sponsors a series of free and accessible classical concerts  at the Methodist Church and summer outdoor concerts at McDonald Park.  We believe that music in a variety of genres should be available to everyone, particularly children.  Carrizozo Music in the Parks is affiliated with Carrizozo Works, Inc., a 501c3  organization.  All of our events are free, but your tax deductable donation is always welcome.

Our summer season includes Taxi Dancer Band (www.taxidancerband.com) from Albuquerque with their super bluesy sound on June 10, Paul Pino and the Tone Daddies (www.paulpino.com) on July 8 playing original New Mexico music, Udi Bar-David on July 16, from Intercultural Journeys, (www.interculturaljourneys.org) and the NM Sax Quartet on August 19.  We are also working on a fiddle event for late July.
