American Eagle Airlines Launches Service From Los Angeles to Roswell, N.M.

FORT WORTH, Texas — American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, today launched service to Southeastern New Mexico with four nonstop flights per week from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Roswell International Air Center (ROW). This new service will be operated with 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140 jets, and is in addition to the three daily round-trip flights now offered between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Roswell.

“We have received tremendous community support from Roswell and are delighted to connect the communities of Southeast New Mexico with convenient jet service to the West Coast,” said American Eagle President and CEO Peter Bowler. “Customers can arrive in Los Angeles first thing in the morning and connect to popular Western destinations such as Las Vegas, San Francisco and San Diego – or to cities throughout the American and American Eagle network.”

Customers can also make convenient connections in Los Angeles to destinations in the Pacific Northwest, via American’s codeshare agreement with Alaska Airlines.

“I’m very pleased that American Eagle is building on its success in Roswell by offering this new service to Los Angeles,” U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman said. “This demonstrates a great commitment to southeastern New Mexico.”

“Once again, we are extremely appreciative of American Eagle,” said Roswell Mayor Sam LaGrone. “With jet service to LAX, we provide opportunities for our businesses, increase tourism and expand our air service for our citizens in Southeast New Mexico.”

The Amazing Roswell UFO Festival is Scheduled for July 3-6, 2008

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Roswell Anniversary Logo ROSWELL, N.M. — Uncover the mystery and help discover the truth at The Amazing Roswell UFO Festival. The City of Roswell invites UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike to join in the celebration of one of the most debated incidents in history this July 3-6, 2008. The four-day event will feature guest speakers, authors, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities.

This year, the City of Roswell will be coordinating the annual festival, Roswell Mayor Sam LaGrone and the UFO Festival Committee are working to organize an event everyone can participate in: “This year, we want the festival to be all-inclusive. We invite everyone with an interest in UFOs, aliens and outer space to be a part of the festival as a presenter, a guest, or both,” Mayor LaGrone said.

The City is expecting thousands of visitors during the festival and guests are encouraged to make travel arrangements early. Links to accommodations, an event schedule and more in-depth information about the festival can be found at the new festival website http://www.UFOfestivalRoswell.com.

In early July, 1947, a mysterious object crashed on a ranch 30 miles north of Roswell. The Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) issued a statement claiming to have recovered a crashed “flying disk.” An article ran on the front page of the Roswell Daily Record and the next day, RAAF changed its statement to say that the object was a weather balloon, not a flying disk as they previously reported. This revised statement sparked immediate controversy and has continued to be a topic of debate more than 60 years later.

During The Amazing Roswell UFO Festival, guests can visit alien attractions, attend lectures, book signings and help uncover the truth about one of the most infamous cover-ups in history. Those interested in participating in the festival as an official sponsor, presenter or vendor, please contact Renee Roach at 1-888-ROS-FEST.
