One area that is often overlooked is the emerging art scene. Several events are now held in Ruidoso that focus on art. Many art loops and studio tours enable visitors to enter the everyday world of the artists’ studios to view and purchase unique art. One event that has grown into a “must” for anyone with an interest in art is the Ruidoso Art Festival held every year in July. First held in 1971 as an outdoor “tent” show, the Ruidoso Art Festival has evolved into an annual event which attracts thousands and is consistently listed as one of the top Juried Fine Art shows in the United States. Featuring over 100 award-winning artists, this year’s Festival begins Friday, July 27th at noon and continues until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29th. Now held at the Ruidoso Convention Center, artists will arrive from several states to display a dazzling array of artwork in twelve categories. Art lovers, from the serious collector to the first-time buyer, will be sure to discover treasures to complement any lifestyle or budget while visiting Ruidoso.
