Dear friends: Many folks in Arizona and New Mexico have been affected by the massive Wallow Fire. There have been many helping hands and every single one is deeply appreciated. \nSubject: Catron Food Pantries will help feed Wallow Fire needy<\/p>\n

Dear Friends, I have spent a lot of time on the phone today (written on Saturday), and wanted everyone to know that our food pantries will be helping feed those who are in need of food due to the Wallow Fire.\u00a0 Kate Fletcher, wife of deputy sheriff Scott Fletcher has been feeding displaced people for a week and a half now, and the end is not in sight (she is also housing evacuees and over 60 displaced animals!).\u00a0 Red Cross may come in and make meals, if the fire crosses the state line (Kate heard that it has crossed the state line, as of an hour ago Saturday night about 9PM).\u00a0 However, there are lots of people camping, scattered over a wide area, many with pets and animals, and many will choose not to go to the Red Cross (if and when they come).<\/p>\n

So on Monday we are having a truck from Roadrunner to go to Cruzville, to the deputy sheriff\u2019s place, and we will pass out food and supplies.\u00a0 One item needed, that Roadrunner can\u2019t provide is CAN OPENERS\u2014do you have any extras you can donate?<\/p>\n

The entire forest is now closed, and law enforcement is posted at all the roads to keep people from trying to gawk at the fire.\u00a0 The National Guard is present, but they are not being fed either, until a state of emergency is declared (how ridiculous!).\u00a0 The firefighters are fine, and eating well, I\u2019m told.\u00a0 And the Air Force is coming, I believe.<\/p>\n

Kate and her crew will make flyers, contact the radio station, the Glenwood Gazette website, and try, in the next 24 hours, to get word out that we are coming.\u00a0 At least they can stop making burritos for a day! J.<\/p>\n

Just wanted to fill everyone in on what I know\u2014and please keep all these people in their prayers\u2014some are sleeping in their cars, and those camping in the forest have had to move, due to the closure.\u00a0 (Some are doing laundry in the lakes and streams!)<\/p>\n
